• Contingency Fees vs. Hourly Rates

Most clients pay our law firm for their personal injury cases  on a contingency fee basis. This means our Ontario personal injury lawyers are paid a percentage of the amount we recover for you. If we do not recover  for you, we don’t receive a fee.  This is our “NO FEE GUARANTEE” program.

If you wish, we may consider handling your personal injury case on an hourly basis. This means you would pay our Ottawa personal injury lawyers for each hour we work on your behalf. If you are interested in an hourly arrangement, please ask and we will be happy to discuss it with you.

From our experience, we have found that the contingent fee arrangement is what most of our clients want. However, the choice is yours.

• Personal Injury Law Firm Disbursements (Expenses)

The expenses we incur while running your case are called disbursements.   We pay for things like medical records, court filing fees, expert reports and witness fees.  In the vast majority of cases, the insurance company agrees to reimburse us for all of these expenses.  In the event that there are expenses that they do not agree to cover, we can satisfy those out of your settlement.  There are never any upfront costs or expenses before your case is resolved.

• Rules of Ethics and the Solicitors Act

Ontario lawyers have rules of ethics that they must follow. Their fees are also governed by the Solicitors Act.
