Meet Ottawa Lawyer Yoni Aroosi:

Birthplace: Toronto

Law School: University of Exeter (UK)

Hobbies/Interests: Travelling, skiing, mountain biking

Pullquote: “I worked at Auger Hollingsworth before I started as a articling student. And then they hired me as a lawyer after I was called the bar. I moved pretty much from the bottom of the food chain upward.”

Yoni Aroosi says he always knew he was going to be a lawyer. So when he became Auger Hollingsworth’s first-ever articling student back in 2017, it was another stepping stone on the career path he’d dreamed about for as long as he can remember.

“I’ve always wanted to represent the disadvantaged person, the person that has a lot of trouble, the person who maybe a lot of people aren’t willing to help out,” he says, adding that he dabbles in criminal law at times as well.

Yoni was born in Toronto and raised in Ottawa, earning a BA in human rights and law at Carleton University before completing a three-year law program at the University of Exeter in southwest England. After returning to Canada he earned his certification from the National Committee of Accreditation, which allowed him to practice law on this side of the pond.

He says that, as one of Auger Hollingsworth’s younger lawyers, he appreciates the firm’s team-first atmosphere.

When he’s not arguing cases Yoni loves to mountain bike around the National Capital Region in summer and ski during winter. He’s also a vigourous traveller, having visited Israel many times along with jaunts to Hong Kong, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, Morocco and other places.
